Mark Rowsthorn, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director

Mark is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Asciano. Mark was appointed Managing Director on 29 January 2007. 
 
Mark was formerly Executive Director of Toll Holdings Limited where he was responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and financial performance of all of the Toll Group divisions within Australia . He was responsible for the development of Toll's strategic direction and the execution of its major business objectives. He also held the positions of Chairman of Virgin Blue and Toll NZ Limited. 
 
Mark played an instrumental role in identifying and managing Toll's numerous acquisitions over 20 years including the acquisitions of Patrick Corporation and Pacific National. 
 
Mark is currently a Non-Executive Director of Cytopia Limited and is a member of Infrastructure Partnerships Australia's Transport Taskforce. 
 
Mark holds tertiary qualifications in Economics and Business Administration.

 

Fiona Mead, Company Secretary

Prior to joining Asciano, Ms Mead was Assistant Company Secretary at Telstra Corporation Limited for five years, including being Company Secretary of eight active subsidiaries, three joint ventures and over 180 subsidiaries. Before joining the Company Secretary's Office, Ms Mead was Telstra's Networks Counsel, a role which required advising on all aspects of construction and management of telecommunications infrastructure. 
 
Ms Mead is a Fellow of Chartered Secretaries Australia. 

 

Saul Cannon, Group General Counsel

Saul Cannon joined Asciano in July 2007 as Group General Counsel.  In June 2008 Saul assumed responsibility for mergers and acquisitions for the Group in addition to his existing role as Group General Counsel. 
 
Prior to joining Asciano, Mr Cannon was the General Counsel - Mergers & Acquisitions & Telstra Asia at Telstra Corporation Limited. He was the lead Telstra lawyer on T3, the A$15.5 billion sale by the Commonwealth of its remaining shareholding in Telstra. Over his 9 years at Telstra, Mr Cannon also worked in a number of different business areas, including three years as general counsel and company secretary of TelstraClear Limited, Telstra's New Zealand business. 
 
Prior to joining Telstra, Mr Cannon worked at leading Australian law firm Mallesons Stephen Jaques.
